The Arctic philharmonic works to bring opera of high temperature to the Arctic region. We are proud to have been involved in presenting no less than six world premieres of new, commissioned operas over the past six years.
Espen Langvik has his education from the Rogaland Musical conservatory (Stavanger), The Academy of Opera (Oslo) and the Mannes College of Music at Manhattan in New York. He made his debut with the role as Danilo in "The happy Widow" at the Norwegian Opera, and at the time marked himself as one of Norways leading young singers. Later on he has filled the roles of Figaro in "The Barber in Sevilla" and "Figaro's wedding", the Marquise of Obigny in "La Traviata", Harlekin in "Ariadne auf Naxos" and many more. Langvik has been a full time employee at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet for eight years, and he actually sung in Arctic Philharmonic's first opera production, Carmen.
Espen became Head of opera in the Arctic Philharmonic in May 2017. One of his most important missions and focus is to make opera more available for the people, wherever they are.
