Christian Kluxen – our new Chief Conductor – is finally here!
The Danish conductor has lead the orchestra before, including during the opera Ariadne auf Naxos (2017), which was a big success for the Arctic Philharmonic.
He is now coming to Bodø and Tromsø in his new role, and we are all very excited to start this collaboration. We believe the feelings are mutual, as Christian expressed these words when the contract between him and Arctic Philharmonic was agreed upon:
“These musicians play at an incredibly high level, which for many is inconceivable to find in a region like Northern Norway. I look forward not only to contributing to the Arctic Philharmonic, but also to learning a huge amount from the musicians.”
Consequently, this concert marks the start of what we believe will be a wonderful collaboration. We hope you will join us in showing Christian genuine North Norwegian hospitality. At any rate, we will do our utmost to ensure he feels at home with us – maybe in a slightly Danish way?
There will certainly be Danish music in the repertoire with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, but there will be Norwegian music too with Ludvig Irgens Jensen’s Rondo Marziale.
We also wish a warm welcome to our piano soloist, Georgy Tchaidze, the Winner of the “Top of the World Piano Competition” in 2015. Along with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra, he will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
