What do you get when you mix Hekla Stålstrenga and the Arctic Philharmonic? We think the answer is wonderful music, a brilliant tour – and Christmas spirit. We are really looking forward to this!
Hekla Stålstrenga has long enjoyed popularity on the national stage. In recent years, the band has played and sung its way into the hearts of many Norwegians with songs like Har du fyr?, Vise ved vintersolkverv and Vinter. On this special Christmas tour, you will hear their songs played together with the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra – classical music combined with traditional Norwegian folk music and naturally a few Christmas carols.
Hekla Stålstrenga comprises Ragnhild Furebotten (fiddle and songwriter), Tore Bruvoll (guitars and songwriter) and vocalist Anne Nymo Trulsen (harmonium and songwriter), as well as Trond-Viggo Solås (bass) and Ole-Jakob Larsen (drums).
The band was formed by fiddler Ragnhild Furebotten and guitarist Tore Bruvollsom. They released the album Hekla Stålstrenga in 2008, which was nominated for the Spellemann award in the category Traditional music/Norwegian folk. The band was nominated for another Spellemann award in 2011 after release of their album Makramé, which also made the VG-lista (the official Norwegian Albums Chart). Two other albums by the band, Dyrandé (2013) and Ventetid (2016), were also nominated for the Spellemann award.
Hekla Stålstrenga and the Arctic Philharmonic have long been good friends, including our collaboration in 2014, which resulted in the live album Hjertebank. In our anniversary season, it feels both right and great to work together with Hekla Stålstrenga again.
