The Italian baroque master is now guesting Tromsø to lead – and play with – the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

This is a real treat for the many lovers of Baroque music among our audience. During this memorable concert, you will hear works by famous and admired composers of the Late Baroque period played by our own chamber orchestra with guest leader and soloist Fabio Biondi.

It’s fair to say that Biondi has a unique background as a violinist. He had already turned 11 when he touched a violin for the first time. The following year he played a concert with Italy's RAI National Symphony Orchestra!

At age 16, he performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s violin concerts at Musikverein in Vienna.
Since then he has played with many leading Baroque ensembles, such as La Capella Reial, Musica Antiqua Wien, Seminario Musicale, La Chapelle Royale and Les Musiciens du Louvre.

“Fabio Biondi is truly a transcendent virtuoso of our time” – the renowned music newspaper Bachtrack

In 1990 he founded Europe Galante, an Italian ensemble specializing in Baroque music, which he has led since its inception. Moreover, Biondi has been the Chief Conductor of Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in Valencia since 2015.

This evening, you will hear selected works by the composers Händel, Sammartini, Nardini, Vivaldi, Telemann and Pugnani played and led by one of Europe’s greatest experts of Baroque Music.
